The tips following are for after the fire has been extinguished.
Call 911 for any fire in your home.
Contact your insurance carrier immediately.
In the event of a major loss, contact an emergency service vendor
(Country Construction (360) 546-3259) to secure the property.
Firefighters often have to cut vent holes in roofs and break windows
to fight the fire. We don't want rain causing more damage than
already done. Most importantly criminals and vandals are known to
loot vacant homes. An initial pack out of valuables might be a wise
idea to deter theft.
Brass and porcelain fixtures and items need cleaning immediately.
Soot is caustic and can cause irreversible damage to brass and
porcelain enameled surfaces. Do not touch porcelain or precious
metals with your bare hands, as the oil on your hand may cause the
soot to set in the item permanently.
Call for help!! Many home owners choose not to file a claim in the
event of a small fire. If you're getting overwhelmed with doing it
yourself, that's what we're here for. We're only a call away.
